When I was back at NOAA, there were no conferences like this. We are figuring out what the solutions are that we need for the future, for the future of ocean health, and the future of all of us enjoying the oceans.

Progression 2025 Speaker

Being here at Progression, you’re around people willing to try things they don’t know will work. And in that failure, you find the actual direction forward. That’s where real innovation happens.

Progression 2025 Keynote

I have never been to a conference like this on climate change. It’s been absolutely fascinating. Instead of politics and advocacy, innovation is at the center of discussion.

Why Join Progression?

Progression is for people tired of politics and echo chambers. We drive impact rooted in innovation, inspiration, and inclusion rather than alarmism and finger-pointing.

By building the community and each event around sport and a shared connection to the natural world, Progression creates a neutral, nonpolitical environment where people with different perspectives can connect around practical solutions.

FAQ

Where people, capital, and ideas meet to protect and explore the natural world.

Progression is a free, invite-only community and conference series. The ecosystem is kept intentionally curated so that real connections are made among investors, founders, technical experts, and Proximity Stakeholders. Apply to join here.

Beginning this December with Oceans 2026, Progression is moving to a three-conference-per-year cadence, adding Snow in April 2027 and Trails in August 2027.

Oceans 2026, in Perth, Western Australia, December 9-12. We're teaming up with Bill Tai and ACTAI Global, West Tech Fest, the World Surf League, Kiteboarding Australia, and others. Registration is open now.
Nonprofits, government agencies, academics, and technical experts with no financial stake in the companies under review. They bring the scientific and operational context that tells us where the real pain points are, and they carry equal weight to the investors in our selection process.
Presenting companies are selected through our Double Investment Committee (IC) model. An Investor Selection Committee (partner-level and above, drawn from different funds) and a Proximity Stakeholder Committee review the same pool through different lenses. We weigh both results equally to surface the startups with the strongest combination of commercial potential, credibility, and real-world relevance.
Bold entrepreneurs building in climate tech, especially early-stage founders working through the valley of death in the funding cycle. We care less about your stage and more about whether the problem is real and the technology is deployable. You don't need to be profitable. You do need to be rigorous. Apply here with a short demo and a one-page overview.
You present to a room of capital and expertise, hear back from both committees, and leave connected to people who can move your work forward. Past finalists have raised, partnered, and expanded off the back of it. Occasionally, ecosystem partners offer prizes or awards to presenting finalists. At our last event, Progression 2026, Rainmaker received a cash award from POWDR, and they are exploring commercial opportunities together.
